I’ve got some good news and some bad news. Which do you want fir —
The Bad News?
Ok, let’s get to it.
My “top men” haven’t returned Awaken to me yet. So, I don’t have a lot new happening on this front. I came up with a few band aids to fix a handful of issues I was having, but not much has changed overall. When I get the feedback I’ll probably go back in and read the entire thing from scratch and make the last of the changes. I’m hoping it will be done by this time next week, so, as a result, unfortunately, no publication this Sunday. I’m super upset at myself. I’ve discussed in previous posts (I’m only linking one, find the rest yourselves you apes) how important this film is to get right for me, so, please just give some time while I mull this over.
So now the good news —
No? What? You want more bad news? I don’t have more bad news. You like to see me suffer? Hey, that’s mean, Mom.
Ok, the good news.
I didn’t let this week go to waste, however. Kenobi has begun scripting! That’s right. Thirty pages, baybee. I spent a lot of time fleshing out the plot, so it’s going smoothly. I hit a few speedbumps a long the way and spent a few hours going through the process and working out the kinks, but I keep right on going. However, as you write an actual Star Wars film you see what an absolute train wreck the continuity is.
I used to wake up at 4am daily when I was in middle school. I would pop in a VHS tape of one of the original trilogy films before getting ready for school. Usually Return of the Jedi, it had the big space battle. For many years Star Wars was my world. As I got into junior high, I bought and read all of the west end RPG books, the expanded universe novels, a few comic books, I was in deep. Now? I wish Star Wars was just dead to be honest. Again, I mentioned earlier that this film has already been told to it’s fullest extent in Rebels. Nothing I do, nor a series on Disney plus is going to make the franchise stronger or reveal any new critical information that wasn’t already assumed or fully realized.
I think the plot is strong and I think Obi-wan’s journey will be good, but it’s ultimately pointless.
I guess that’s it this week junior birdmen. I’ll talk to you again next week.
Oh, one more thing.
I’m going to make an attempt at a concerted effort to revitalize my Instagram for self promotion purposes, so if you are a living person, keep an eye on the site for that to pop up and follow me over there at: paulwpratt
Update: 28 March 2021
I got the script back from my “Top Men.” There wasn’t much in the way of feedback, other than it’s fine. So… yeah. Kind of back to square one with no where to go. Sigh. Give me another week. We’ll take off the weight.
